Nutrivene Brain NRG

Brain NRG is a high-potency combination of the nutrients most proven to support energy generation and utilization in the brain. This formula was developed by Dr. Parris Kidd, from his extensive research into brain physiology and biochemistry. It contains exclusively ortho molecules - nutrients that occur naturally in the brain. The human brain has huge energy requirements - while representing only about 2% of the body’s weight it uses at least 20% of the body’s oxygen and blood sugar.(1)

Declining brain performance typically is accompanied by brain energy decline.(2) This formula provides ample supplies of nutrients to support the various categories of human brain energy production and utilization, including: 1. Oxygen-linked (“aerobic”) energy production. This is done only by mitochondria, the mini-power plants inside our cells, and accounts for the bulk of brain energy production.(3) 2. Anaerobic energy production (glycolysis), which occurs in the cell cytoplasm (water phase).(3) 3. Energy utilization for “housekeeping”—to maintain the basal activities of the brain’s approximately one trillion cells (100 billion nerve cells and 900-plus billion other cells).(4) A big chunk of this housekeeping energy goes to maintaining the sodium-potassium ion pumps that keep the nerve cell membranes primed to produce electrical signals.(1) 4. Energy utilization for signaling. This consumes well over 80% of the brain’s energy, and includes (1) making and packaging the nerve transmitters to activate information exchange at the synapses; (2) re-activating the ion pumps after synapse activation has occurred; (3) recycling of the transmitters following their release.(1)

The nutrients in Brain NRG are chemically identical to the forms naturally present in all human cells. Two-time Nobel prizewinner Linus Pauling named these ortho molecules, for “molecules orthodox” to the body.(5) Their integral relationships with healthy human biochemistry make the ortho molecules generally the most effective AND safest ingredients for dietary supplements.

This formula provides:

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), the pre-eminent electron transport nutrient AND a potent antioxidant.(6) All our cells carry multiple mitochondria, each equipped with a double set of membranes to manage its energy production functions.(3) Each membrane has a thin molecular sheet or matrix that consists mostly of phospholipid molecules and provides the structural foundation for the numerous membrane enzymes and other catalytic proteins.(3) Within the matrix, CoQ10 molecules zip around at dazzling speed. They pick up high-energy electrons extracted from food molecules and deliver them to membrane enzymes that capture the electronic energy and transform it into the chemical energy of ATP (adenosine triphosphate, the energy currency of the body).(3) CoQ10 also helps protects the mitochondria membranes against free-radical “burn” damage from these activated electrons.(2) CoQ10’s central role in brain energetics is validated by decades of research.(7)

PhosphatidylSerine (PS), a phospholipid nutrient and a major cell membrane building block.(11) PS is a vital lipid both for the membranes that power the mitochondria and for all other cell membranes. PS is the most clinically proven brain nutrient: numerous double-blind clinical trials indicate it supports memory, learning, and the other cognitive brain functions.(11,12) PS also helps manage stress, anxiety and mood.(13) PS helps conserve the receptors in the nerve cell membranes that respond to NGF (nerve growth factor), which helps maintain and enhance nerve cell survival and renewal.(11,14)

GlyceroPhosphorylCholine (GPC), another vital phospholipid nutrient.(15) GPC is present in the cell water phase, where it protects against waste product buildup. GPC is a highly bioavailable source of choline, a nutrient essential for epigenetic gene regulation and for the production of acetylcholine, a key nerve transmitter. GPC supports attention, memory, and other cognitive functions, and the natural secretion of the “master” hormone GH (growth hormone). GPC in the cytoplasm generally complements the actions of PS in the membranes. Like PS, GPC supports NGF actions and is abundant in human breast milk.(11,15)

Acetyl-l-Carnitine (ALC), which resembles PS and GPC in its capacity to conserve NGF receptors. ALC supports the mitochondrial pathways that generate energy,(16) and its acetyl groups contribute to epigenetic gene regulation.(17) ALC also supports mood management in adults,(18) and behavior in children.(19)

L-Taurine, a potent antioxidant with nerve transmitter activity and a unique electrochemical buffering capacity that provides a unique form of protection for the brain.(22)

Vitamin C and Vitamin E, two major natural antioxidants that complement each other: C protects the cell water phase while E protects the cell membranes.(3) Vitamin C is highly concentrated in the brain, is a nerve transmitter cofactor, and likely helps regulate brain energetics.(23) This formula provides vitamin E as mixed tocopherols, to help improve the dietary intake ratio of gamma- to alpha-tocopherol.(24)

Vitamin B12, which is important for cognition(25) and works together with the formula’s other nutrients to help control homocysteine, a likely risk factor for brain dysfunction.(26) This formula provides a hefty allowance of B12 as hydroxocobalamin, the safest dietary form.

Vitamins B1, B2, B6 and Folate, provided in their metabolically activated as well as their more common supplement forms, to facilitate their metabolic utilization.(27)

Magnesium, a mineral nutrient essential to the healthy maintenance of ATP levels in cells.(28) Magnesium also helps to balance brain calcium metabolism. Nutrients Support the Brain’s Adaptability (“Plasticity”) Just within the past decade, neuroscientists discovered that the human brain is far more dynamic and adaptable than was previously assumed. This dynamic capacity for adaptation is called brain plasticity or neuroplasticity.(29) The human brain has such plasticity that the visual cortex can turn over as much as 7% of its synapse connections each week.(30) Making new synapses requires making new cell membrane mass, which requires energy. Measurable declines in memory-cognitive functions or sensory-motor functions are linked to loss of synapses and breakdown of mitochondrial functions.(2,31) By feeding into the brain’s capacities to produce and use energy, Brain NRG supports neuroplasticity and overall brain vitality.

This formula is suitable for the young, middle-aged or elderly. For anyone who loses things too often or cannot stay focused on the job at hand.
